Trial to improve palliative care in RACF

This week’s Commonwealth budget includes $32.8 million over four years from 2018-19 for a trial to improve palliative care for elderly Australians living in residential aged care facilities. This is contingent on matched funding from the States and Territories. The Treasurer also announced an additional 14,000 high level home care packages over four years from 2018-19. 

Welcoming the announcements, PCA CEO, Liz Callaghan, called for specific palliative care quality indicators for residential and community aged care and better cross-jurisdiction cooperation in this media release.
